It is hard to find a better formulation. The problem for "the republic of
Argentina" after 1955 is that, in order to "adapt to the capitalist world
system", it was required to dismount all that she had built up in terms of
independent economy (please note that I am not even hinting that it was a
socialist economy), and to restablish the colonial structure that had been
definitory up to th early 1940s.

Adapting to the capitalist world system means, in plain terms, to return to
colonial status. This is what was achieved after 1976 and, particularly, after
1989. The problem being, however, that such status didn't even imply a
"colonial tradeoff" because our economy was not complementary, it was
competitive, with the economy of the hegemonic power. Thus, the whole thing
dissolved into a criminal policy of plunder.

Thus, we arrived to where we stand now.
