Rob:

My guess is, we have contending/aspiring ruling classes going feral here - and
relying on those old dividers of the world's proletariat (ethnocentrism,
patriotism, racism, religious bigotry - not to mention the serious variations
in actual welfare and perceived material interests across the working class
that exacerbate and perpetuate the aforementioned) to provide the cannon
fodder. Hence my provisional pox-on-'em-all stance.

A simple stance in a complex world, I admit, (it did seem to me that
Washington had an integrated PR-and-military-expansionist strategy in place in
the very moment - what with Dubya stressing 'war' and 'harbours' at the outset
- whether that was scenario-opportunism or based on some kinda foreknowledge,
we must decide for ourselves) but I gotta start somewhere.

Hello , Rob.

I myself am not adverse to weaving in a minor theory of emergent Saudi Arabian imperialism, which somehow is in a kiind of twisted interimperialist rivalry with the U.S. including "war", but it is rather a weird new version, since it goes off as the U.S. "protecting" Saudi Arabia as in the war on Iraq , and even now Bin Laden is supposedly sort of antagonistic toward the Saudi rulers. Are the Americans trying to kill the Saudis with kindness ?
