i thought that one of the mayor welcome reasons for marks welcome
initiative in starting this list, was precisely because we have had enough
againsts tom, dick & harry.


whether it is prudent now to rehash the early 70s, i kinda doubt.
otherwise all mark says in that last note sounds more than sensible to
me. but i did not apparently get the main drift of its not afghanistan, if
the main message was that the US has become a paper tiger.if so, alas one
that can take the rest down with it, and would not shun from doing so if
only from spite and purported innocence.


interesting to find mark being now the 3rd person i run into to say out
loud what i have been preaching into ther wind that the US can and does
buy up the whole rest of the world by
simply printing 100 dollar bills for nothing. but that was not yet the
case then, it seems to me, unless the idea is that ''shutting down the
gold window'' was done for that purpose and with that effect.
I just saw on C-span a round table with over a half dozen Secs of
Treasury from Blumenthal and Goerge to the latest [ i dont think
Summer was there] talkng about what their role was and shoulda been.
i got there late, but while there did not hear anything about
international econ pol, and when someome in the audience asked about that
and itsd relation to sec of state, the answer was ... no answer, ewen
though two of the guys there had occupied both of the posts.
